P1 : Jaki jest cel projektu?

We want do develop an open source firmware to the "s1 mp3 player", taking full use of his hardware and capabilities. The best is to get involved with such a kewl embedded development background and play with that cute mp3 player!

P2 : Jak mogę pomóc w projekcie?

You can help the project in many ways. The easiest is clicking the banners :)

Please, if you wish to help, send a message introducing yourself to the mail list . Tell any of the skills you might have(C, embedded programming, HTML/Web, scripting, etc...), and say you wish to help. LOADS of work will be waiting you! ;)

Of course, you could also visit our forums and help out there ;).

P3 : Czy jest jakieś forum albo grupa dyskusyjna?

We maintain a web based forum and a mail list . The mailing list is mainly for development purposes ONLY. for dead players, see the forums .

P4 : Czy istnieje możliwość podmiany tekstu/obrazków w firmwarze?

Yes, there is. Wire's s1fwx can dump your firmware and you can use s1res to change the text/graphics, even with OLED players. See the Narzędzia i użytki page.

P5: Is there a firmware update for my player?

First: If your player works, keep it that way : don't update!!

"Updates" don't exist for the S1mp3 player, there are just a lot of different versions of the same firmware. But not all versions work with all boards. Each firmware is made especially for one board type, so if you update your player with a wrong version, it dies!

You can also use wire's s1fwx together with s1res to change the bootlogo.

P7 : Jak korzystać z opcji książki telefonicznej?

You need to download the appropriate Telbook.exe, with generates a telbook.bin file with your contacts. Then, on the telbook menu, you have to "import" the file. So far, we have found two different versions of the Telbook.exe program that don't make the same telbook.bin. You might probably have the wrong version for your player. See the Narzędzia i użytki

P8 : Jak uruchomić/korzystać z opcji wyświetlania tekstu piosenki?

P9: Kolor podświetlania zmienia się za każdym naciśnięciem przycisku! To irytujące, jak to wyłączyć?

In the "System" menu there is a "backlight mode" submenu. You can set color behavior there.

P10: Mój odtwarzacz ma tylko jeden kolor podświetlania, czy uaktualniając fimware będe miał więcej kolorów?

No, you can't. The multi-color players have three different backlight LED. These are colored Red, Green and Blue. The different colors are made by combining the LED's in different ways (EG: Red+Blue gives Pink/Purple).

The one-color players only have one backlight LED, so they cannot combine colors.

The LED's are inside the Płytka z wyświetlaczem LCD. If you don't have the LEDs (the multi-color devices have tree of them, while the single-color players only have one) on your hardware, there is no way to add them!

P11 : Jak dodać funkcję radia?

If your player does not have the radio CI soldered, it's impossible to add FM. But, if your player once had FM and you lost it during firmware update, you can use the FW modifier(see Narzędzia i użytki) tool to add the function to a .bin file.

Calm down, deep breath.Read the dead recovery guide with attention. Then, try to execute it. It's a default procedure and it was worked for everybody. Good luck and you may count on us for full support on the forum.

Q2: How can I find a firmware for my XXXXX player?

If you really need a firmware for recovering your dead player, refer to the Jak znaleźć pasujący do twojego odtwarzacza firmware.

Q3: My board does not contain a board number! What should I do?

You have to look harder. It may be printed in a very small font, on any of the sides of the boards. It may be even hidden behind the LCD cable or under a sticker where the battery compartment is.

Remember: we qualify any number printed in white on the green printboard as the .

Until now, we haven't seen any player without a written on it, after some looking, everyone so far has found it.

Q4: What does "Unknown flash type" or "flash not responding"means?

In a practical way, it means that your update program does not support your mp3 player, or the mp3 player may be running on a wrong firmware routine. To solve it, you can either change your update program or put the player in recovery mode. See the Ożywienie odtwarzacza for further info.

Q5: My device is at "ADFU server" mode and I can't acess it using windows

This means that your player is at the the recovery mode. You shall now pick a firmware for your player and flash it. For help, see Jak znaleźć pasujący do twojego odtwarzacza firmware.
